The Mencía Petit Pittacum wine is made by the Pittacum winery, which belongs to the Terras Gauda winery group, located west of León in the Bierzo region. The vineyards are centuries old and are located in the Bierzo mountain range. It is protected by the Bierzo designation of origin.

Type: Single-varietal red wine aged in oak barrels, DO Bierzo.

Varietals: MencÍa (100%).

Aging: 3 months in oak barrels.

The Mencía grape arrives at the winery in small boxes of 12Kg capacity where it goes to the selection table. Subsequently, prior to destemming and without crushing, they are taken to the tanks where they ferment for 15 days at 25 degrees, at this time they are drilled and traced slightly with the idea of making a selective extraction and preserving all their fruit. The wine then spends a short period of three months in the barrel.

It has a ruby color with violet edges

On the nose aromas of red fruit (strawberry) and citric notes with a slightly spicy background characteristic of the Mencía variety appear.

In the mouth it shows good freshness and acidity, easy to drink and with a long final memory.

Petit Pittacum wine pairs perfectly with legumes, poultry and their rice, cephalopods such as octopus, blue fish, sautéed or stewed mushrooms, tortillas, also fish empanadas.
